Something wicked this way comes.

Something wicked-awesome that is!

Stay tuned for an exciting announcement a bit farther on down my post. (Cue suspenseful music.) But you’ll have to wait a few paragraphs. (Maniacal laugh.)

Well the boys are back in town which means I have a few short weeks left to pack in as much summer fun as I can for my fellas. That also means today’s post will probably be on the shorter side of things. But I’m still here, just like I am every Wednesday, to keep you up-to-date on the happenings in my life as a writer. Because I think you all are fantastic. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t even bother with all this hoopla.

It’s crazy how much work goes into running a blog. Creating quality content is no easy task let me tell you. I’ve thought about bringing someone else on board to help with things but it’s really hard when you’ve got a Type-A personality. Still, maybe someone will come along and blow me away with how much they want to help and I will have no choice but to let them. Oh, I’m sorry, I think I just dozed off for a moment there and was dreaming. lol But seriously, if that’s you, please blow me away!

But eventually yes, my hope is that The Writing Piazza will one day be a place where writer’s gather to work on their craft. Where they come for help and support in navigating through this difficult industry. Where it won’t just be me writing to all of you but that some of you will also be writing to all of you as well. Did I just fall into the Matrix there or was that a little confusing? Moving on.

Along those lines (the lines that made sense at least), I have an announcement that I think is pretty exciting. After careful consideration, hours of research, numerous books read and a meeting with an author friend who has already pursued the course of action I am about to announce, drumroll please.

I have decided to start my own impress!

It will be small at first. I have my novella that I will be publishing under it as well as a couple other projects in mind. But one day I hope to be able to help other authors get their manuscripts published under it as well. I love helping other authors and I thought once I get some experience with myself as the guinea pig, that I will really be able to help authors get their work out there.

Of course, I have to be honest with you (you know I do, it’s what you love about me right?) I may have jumped the gun and asked a couple of authors if they’d like to publish under my imprint already but I just get so excited when I read some of their stories and I can’t help myself. haha Seriously though, I just really want to help them achieve their goals of being published, so maybe one day I’ll be able to do that.

I decided to do this instead of having CreateSpace as my publisher just because I wanted to have control of my own ISBN and a couple other considerations that came up. I wasn’t sure I felt up to the task at first but after talking to my wonderful writer friend who has already done it, I think I’m ready. And if I’m not, I’m going to fake it till I make it!

Right now I’m leaning towards the name Writing Piazza Press. What do you guys and gals think? Or is it like baby names and you don’t tell anyone until after you’ve named the baby so everyone just tells you that they love it. lol

So that’s what I’m working on right now. I’ve also got my in-person Critique group tonight, I’m trying to figure out what piece I’ll share for that. I’ve got a couple things in the works but I don’t know which one I want to share yet. And I haven’t forgotten about the next contest announcement. I’m working on that too. It’s a bit more involved than the last one though so it will take a bit longer until I’m ready to announce that. But the last contest was such a rousing success I can’t wait to see what the next one produces! If you missed it, you can check out the winners here.

That about sums up what I’ve been up to. What is everyone out there working on currently? I always get pumped up to hear what other people have going on, so drop me a comment below and let me know. Thanks!

Until we meet again.

  • Oh, and I was wondering if you could resend your feedback? The story I entered in your previous contest I asked if you could give me feedback and you did (yay!) but I can’t forward it to my iPad, which is where I keep my stories. If you could find it in your sent email and resend it to the email attached to my name here, that would be amazing. Thank you! 😀

  • I’m currently working on the story for your next contest, revising a story I already entered into a contest at my local library, storyline and dialogue for a video game (I couldn’t believe I was actually asked to write that!) and revising the story I entered in your previous contest, I’m also working on a story for my next Writer’s Club meeting! Busy busy busy but exciting 😀
