Writing Prompts

Even the best of us get stuck every now and then. A great thing to help loosen the creative floodgates are Writing Prompts. I have dug up some good sites that offer writing prompts for you to check out whenever you get a little stuck.

The first one is the Imagination Prompt Generator. This site offers a push-button for new prompts whenever you’re ready for them or you can set a ten minute writing timer if you’d rather have them pop up that way. The prompts will get you thinking in  a different direction and get your creative juices flowing again.

The second is CreativeWritingPrompts.com. This one is a bit more basic. It’s got a list of numbers that you can click on and writing prompts will pop-up. You can just click through the numbers and get some help removing that writer’s block.

The third is Fifteen Minutes of Fiction. This site offers a lot more than writing prompts. They have articles about creative writing, a fun way to practice your creative writing, and of course writing prompts. For the prompts, they just offer a new prompt once a week so if you’re looking for a lot at one time then you can always click back through the “previous prompt” links under the current week’s prompt. This site also allows you to sign up to have the weekly prompt emailed directly to you. Just another option to consider.

The fourth and final site I wanted to share is The Story Starter. It’s claim to fame is that it generates 215,572,250,880 random story starters to help you get started with your creative writing project. It also has a fun link for Story Starters for Kids. If you’ve got some kiddos looking for some creative story ideas then this is a good place to start.

So if you find yourself stuck in your writing, don’t just wasted time trolling the internet looking at cat videos. Do something productive and check out these sites to help unblock your imagination. If you’d like more writing prompts write a quick comment below and I’m sure I and the other creative authors that stop by The Writing Piazza will be able to help you out. And if you have a crazy, awesome writing prompt, consider sharing them below too to help other writers out. That’s what we’re all about here on The Writing Piazza.

We will see what we can do! 🙂 I hope you will take a little time to check out the rest of the site, there are some great things like interviews with published authors and other people in the publishing industry. You can check that out here. Thanks for stopping by.

Until we meet again.
